Christmas update

 I hope you all are staying healthy,
Christmas is around the corner, and we are making sure our dogs are being totally fine with the things that happen around the house.

Non of our dogs seem to have problems with the tree and decorations. We do loads of fun games and involve Christmas decorations with our games.

I just wanted to share this with you all, as we do not really have lots of things going on. We do our training/games and we have our snuggles and walks, but we sure look forward to some conformation shows.

In the meantime please stay healthy.

Tricks on tuesday, Emmy has her novice title

Emmy and I have been training, and having fun

And we did it.

Emmy is Novice trickdog!!

As you could see in one of my friday posts, Emmy is a weirdo and she did so many tricks and in the middle of the trick

she would lie down on her back.

So the final video I had to send in for her title is far from perfect, but she did it.

And as long there is no camera, she will really do a great job.

I'm proud of Emmy and I love her so much

Fit dog friday square challenge

Here is a nice challenge for both you and your dog.

I'm always looking for fun stuff to do.

So last year I came across fitness with Fido.

Emmy has done a lot of challenges with me, 

doing fitness with your dog is really fun.

And doing fitness with Emmy is double fun

The square challenge was a nice challenge where the person needed to do a jump squat

and then jump in a square patten.

Then later you had to make sure your dog did a sidestep and backing up, in a square pattern.

Emmy has this weird behaviour of getting on her back to get cuddled in the middle of all kinds of sessions

She can do this is training, or in recall, and she does it also when we do fitness.

Here is the video of the square challenge, try it yourselve, it is a pretty nice workout for both.

Tricks on tuesday

At the moment we are still at home, as almost everyone on the globe, and we are working alot on tricks as you could see in our previous posts.

I'd like for the time being, to post video's of various tricks that we trained with our dogs.
And share some information on how I trained my dog the trick.

First one is touch target stick,
I don't have a real target stick, so I use a ball wanger.
The point is that they touch the end of the stick with their nose.

How to do this, ofcourse there are several ways but I tought it like this
I make sure I have a clicker and loads of treats ready.
The moment the dog takes interest in the stick I click, I suggest to hold the stick with the handle pretty short. After a few repetitions of taking interest, try to wait out that the dog does not only take interest, but wil touch it with his nose.
This should not be too hard to do.
When they are touching the stick almost every time, I would hold the stick out with the handle a bit longer.
After a while that should go great too, and I would put the behaviour on cue.
I say "touch" then I present the stick, and when your dog touches the stick, click and treat.

And there you have it. You teached your dog a cool trick, this trick could come in handy if you want to teach your dog spin circles or other cool tricks aswell.

Working on Novice tricktitle with Emmy

As we are in a intelligent Lockdown (that is how our gouverment calls it) we are working on a Novice trick title for Emmy

For a title you need 15 tricks and we have loads of time training them.

I'm also giving online lessons on tricktraining with Emmy as my demo dog.

Handling @ Kynospirit

The first weekend of 2020 we had a cool dogshow event in Sebaldeburen at Kynospirit. I did pretty wel with Emmy and got to the second round!
But my nephew Damon did super awsome, he went trough to the semi-finals!!!!

He was also the youngest participant it was the real deal, no juniors or what so ever so I'm super proud he compeated against all the adults and go so far!!!!

Pupdate week 8

We are a few days late with the pupdate, but we had a busy and exiting week. Lots of phonecalls and visits made our web update a little difficult.

But the rebels had  a great time. Again it was a heatwave in the Netherlands so we had to scedule the active stuff in the evening hours.

We have been able to work an recal, sit, down, walk on a leash, visit the vet, car rides and just plain fun. The adult dogs are now most of the time in the same space as the puppies, but if we think the babies need a break we seperate them to keep both the adults and the puppies safe and happy.

I'm happy we created this strong bond between human and pup, because the puppies seem to love new people and are curious about live and not scared at all!!!

Here are a few video's of the boys with their teaching session of sit. Unfortunatly when I videod Leia I had the camera set up wrong, so you don't see a puppy on the clip.

We also think it is very important that puppies socialize only with gentle dogs at this young age, and Anna is very soft for the babies

This clip is from Friday, this would be the last day that they could play toghether as 4 because Luke was leaving our place at Saturday to live a great life in Heerhugowaard.
His new name is Lasco and we know he will have an awsome time with his new mistress.

Asterix is staying for a while because of domestic travel so we continue to socialize him toghether with Leia, who is our new girl.
Ben has not yet a forever home, so if you really love him he is still  available. And ofcourse we will keep socialicing and teaching behaviours in the meantime, so when he leaves he will have some basic knowledge in his mind

Pupdate week 7

It was a rough week. We had a lot of chalenges as breeders. Apparently food we bought was wrong. (It was the same food, but bought with another store, because of delay of delivery from the normal company) Terribly wrong. The puppies refused to eat, they probably smelled it was not good. But we made sure they ate, because pups need to grow, they need to eat.

We cried, we worked hard, we did not sleep for days, but we made sure the pups would be better. Pups went to the vet to be checked, stools where to be checked, no Virus was in their stools so the vet was also afraid of what was wrong.
I'm very gratefull that my parents took them to the vet in the daytime, and I could contact my vet about 24/7.

Lucky for us the Leia did not want to eat the regular food, even with all the fine things we mixed it with. And she was only eating the fancy food we gave to make the regular food more tastefull.
So then we tought hey, this is wrong, we throwed out all the food. And opened the new bag of food, from our normal delivery, and they where cured again. 


In between all the struggles we did as much we could to go on with their socializing. So we did work on Recal, we did work on new sounds, new objects, we did work alot on getting them housebroken and now they yell when they want to go pee, and they want to do it outside.
Potential puppy buyers went for a visit, and family was coming over to meet the babies.

Also nail clipping and even brushing teeth where on our list of things that need to be trained.

We introduced the crate, and they have much fun with it.

Upcoming week we can expand all fun and learning experiences even more.

Enjoy all the pictures and you know if you are interested, most likely there is only 1 puppy that needs a new home.

Pupdate week 6

Being outside is the most beautifull thing in the whole wide world, so when we have the change the puppies go outside. They just love gras. So we are a bit dissapointed the wheater will be not so nice over the weekend.
We had a little luck with real thunder and we are so happy the babies did not mind it at all.

We had a lot of fun with some cool interactive toys, I have video's on that but not yet uploaded to YouTube so that will be in another post.

Also the babies have been microchipped this week so we can go get their first shot, and have more fun in the outdoor world!!!!

Nederlandse Pupdate week 5,5

Wat een avondturen. Week 5 is meestal het begin van een angstfase bij alle pups. Gelukkig is het bij alleen schrik reacties gebleven en zijn we daar nu overheen. Prachtig te zien dat het lichaam allemaal van die functies heeft.

We hebben regelmatig nieuwe items die we aan de pups presenteren en ze vinden alles interessant. Voer is nu niet meer geweekte brokjes maar enkel de brokjes en mama Emmy bemoeit zich er steeds minder mee. Al is ze wel heel lief en zacht en wilde ook haar pupjes graag een stukje van haar kippennek geven, wat wij dan weer minder vonden.

Spelen in de woonkamer wordt nu ook steeds leuker dan in de ren, en af en toe krijgen we het al voor elkaar dat poepjes en plasjes buiten worden gedaan!!!!
Ook is er dit weekend gras geintroduceerd. Wat een leuk materiaal is dat. Het waaide een storm en dan ook nog een dikke tracktor door het weiland. Het was een hele belevenis maar wat vonden ze het mooi.

Voor 1 of 2 reuen zoeken we nog een huisje.
Bij interesse stuur een mailtje (bellen mag ook, maar we zijn vaak veel bezig met de honden, dus is mailen vaak makkelijker)

Pupdate week 5

We had so much fun this week.
The puppies grow amazing and doing so well. We try to take them outside in their little run every day for half an hour or an hour never more. They love being outside.

We are also blessed that collies are so clean, so doing potty is most of the time not in their play and sleep area, but on a special blanket that is close to the door.
Even outside they don't want to soil their play area and they will scream to go outside, and then go happily in the playpen again after relieving.

We are busy to make them comfortable in all kinds of situations, nails are being clipped on Saturday and we make them get used to brushes, their collar, a leash, think of it. Only in small bits and pieces.

We are very pleased with the happy attitude of the babies, they don't seem to be frightened, but we also know week 5 is sometimes crucial in fear periods.
So we will only be doing fun and happy activities the upcoming few day's and then next week we can do more exiting things again, when they get over this fase.
I hope to be doing a timelapse or another dutch post this weekend, because many people apreciate the Dutch postings aswel.
