Fit dog friday Stretches

Another fit dog friday, to keep fit we do exercises, but it is also important to stretch, to make sure to keep the body flexible.
It is not advisable to just tug and stretch cold muscles, just as it is not very handy to go workout without any warming up

In these video's you see the passive range of motion and stretch exercises that we had to do for our level 1 canine fitness

Both are demo's with Scarlett, collies can be a bit anoying when it comes to touching their legs and feet, so she really wants to watch what I do constantly.

Also here is another video that shows passive range of motion, I demonstate this with Lucky

When you get the hang of it, this is really relaxing and enjoyable for the dogs.

Fit dog friday square challenge

Here is a nice challenge for both you and your dog.
I'm always looking for fun stuff to do.
So last year I came across fitness with Fido.

Emmy has done a lot of challenges with me,
doing fitness with your dog is really fun.

And doing fitness with Emmy is double fun
The square challenge was a nice challenge where the person needed to do a jump squat
and then jump in a square patten.
Then later you had to make sure your dog did a sidestep and backing up, in a square pattern.

Emmy has this weird behaviour of getting on her back to get cuddled in the middle of all kinds of sessions
She can do this is training, or in recall, and she does it also when we do fitness.

Here is the video of the square challenge, try it yourselve, it is a pretty nice workout for both.

Fit dog friday Paws up Disc

Here is again a nice Fit dog friday post.

Scarlett was my demo dog for level 1 and here is a level 1 video for you

Frontpaws on disc Use your imagination I used a fitbone because I do have multiple items, but you can use an inflatable disc you can buy in a lot of cheap stores. And you can use a sofa cushion Make sure to use positive reinforcement and lots of treats and praise

And as you can see in this video I used the fitpaws fitbone

This is a real great exercise for limb awaress and works muscles in both front and rear.
The inflation of the disc or bone makes the exercise more difficult

Fit dog friday Star has level 4

Another fit dog friday,

We are super proud of Star, she made it to level 4 Canine Fitness through do more with your dog.

She is the first rough collie listed on the website of Do more with your dog so that makes us even more proud.
Level 4 had some pretty hard exercises, but when you follow the program which we did, the dog gets really stronger and smarter as time goes on.

Here you see a little filmclip with Star doing the double beam.
She needed to place left paws on the left beam, right paws on the right beam.
It was hard, but it was do-able with lots of treats and a lot of patience.

Also it is very important to place the beams just as far away as is comfortable for the dog.
This was a great training journey for both of us.

Fit dog friday ladder work

As the world is still staying at home I will show you a nice exercise with Scarlett, we filmed this when she was a few weeks before her 11th birthday, and we still do this exercise very often.

Ladder

I used my cavaletti's at the medium setting and not spaced to wide from each other
You can use a normal ladder also
Always treat after they went over all the rungs
This can be can be more challenging than you think, but if Scarlett can do it, your dog can do it too

Fitness title for Scarlett

It is a while back now, but we have been working a lot on tricks and fitness in the last few months. I always wanted to try something out with my older dogs, and since Dita has her leg injury I didn't want to put a lot of extra stress on her joints.
So I started doing fit-tricks with Scarlett.
I absolutely do fitness with Dita but not all the fit-tricks that are needed for a title.

So we worked for a month on all the things we needed to gain a title Canine Conditioning Fitness and we did great.
Scarlett gained her fitness title 1 month before her 11th birthday. I'm so proud that her body is still able to do this and she is so happy when she performs.

Look how proud Scarlett is with her medal
