Pupdate week 3

Already 3 weeks, time flies when you're having fun.
Walking is getting better and better and we introduced some small teddybears into their whelping box. We are really amazed how clean they are. They try to escape from the whelpig box so they won't pee in their sleeping space. I think that is pretty cool for such little babies.

Monday we dewormed them at the vet, who found them so lovely and big, ( I checked back, they are almost the same as the previous litters)

 

 

Teeth are starting to come in so a few babies where a bit uncomfortable for a day, but luckily it was over soon enough. Today they will start on their first meal, but they already know how to eat from a bowl because of the mixture I gave them since day 9.

Barking and playing is now beginning to be an activity next to sleeping and eating. And I cannot wait for them to go play with all the toys I have for them. (Not all at the same time I know)

Pupdate week 2

The little ones are growing beautifull. The puppies are content the whole time.  Things changed over the years so I was patiently waiting for the confirmation of the names of the puppies, but they where already in our portal.
So we are very happy to announce the Star Wars Rebels, Glamourace Collies Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker and Obi-wan Kenobi

We have been doing a lot of cuddling, and started at day 9 with a sort of solid food, Thanks to Leslie Rappaport of Kings Valley Collies for the support!
Nails have been clipped again as they are growing super quick.
By day 16 all of the eyes started to open and they also move around in the whelping box in a very funny way.

I think that the easy weeks are over and we now transition into a period of exploring the world, and we look forward to it.

Throwback Thursday CCA National specialty part 4

Here is finally my last I promised to write, about the time we went to the National specialty in Oklahoma City
Saturday of the Nationals, the most important day!!! It started early and the first thing to come around was juniorhandling, or Juniorshowmanship as it is called in the USA.
I have to admit that those young people performed their best, and it looked way better then it did the day before, apparently that was a practice and for real it was way better.

Then in the upcoming hours there where only beautifull dogs, perfectly groomed and so well presented. I think everyone was very proud of their special dogs.
At the time the best of breed had to be chosen every person in the building was crowded around the ring to watch what the Judge would do.
And at the end of the day a beautifull rough sable was chosen for best of breed.

When the show was over, we browsed around the place a while and we chatted with some people, but most of them had an amazingly long journey to go home. So everyone was packing up their stuff and left.

So we headed back to our hotel, really satisfied with the whole experience
Many breeders and handlers now became real people and friends to me, and they pushed me to come also to Louisville Kentucky in 2016.
So I went again........ yay.................

After a terrible long trip in the plane, (it is very hard for me to sit down)
we where home again after a week of colliedom and friendship.

Very quick afterwards i was asked to write an article for Collie Revue Magazine. So I did and I could dive into my nice memories again, just like I'm doing now.

National Specialty CCA 2015

Pupdate week 1

The puppies of Emmy are today 7 days so here is the first pupdate!! Sadly last Friday we lost our tiny boy Ukkie, he was just way to small to survive, we did our utmost best but we could not get him to gain weight, it was terrible but it is how it sometimes goes.

But there is alot of happy news!!!! The pups are groing great and Emmy is doing an amazing job being a mommy. She now spends some time outside the whelping box but if one of her babies makes a tiny squeek she will jump in the whelping box and start nursing.

We already clipped their tiny nails for the first time, as we do not want them to hurt Emmy while they drink. On day 3 we started with Early Neurolocical Stimulation witch will help get puppies to recover quickly from stress, get better cardiovasculair system, stronger heartbeats and so on.
They will get a lot of daily attention and are very satisfied.

The official names need to be confirmed by the Dutch Kennelclub Raad van Beheer so I just put here their petnames as they are at the moment.

I'm keeping the girl Leia here at Glamourace Collies, but 2 boys do like a nice forever home.

Junior handling @ Kynospirit

I almost forgot to mention that my nephew partcipated in junior handling a few weeks ago.
We went to a fun match at Kynospirit and I did not show a collie myself, he could show Scarlett because that is his favourite dog.

We did train with Scarlett, but she is our oldest so the main training we did was with Judy and Lucky, I think he did a great job.

 

 

At the show he showed Scarlett in the breedring to Best of Breed and best veteran, normally there are not many collies at fun matches but here he had a strong competition, so that was awsome.

He also became best junior handler in show and I let him show the ring of honour for veterans and FCI group 1.

We are superproud that he did all this, Thank you all judges who saw the quality of Scarlett and the handling skills of Damon

 

 

 

Oh and btw I did win with Anna Best of Breed, and Best in group, and became best handler in show!!!!

Puppies are born

Yesterday Emmy gave birth to a beautifull litter of 5!!! We are superhappy, Emmy is doing very well and is a natural mommy.
We have 2 blue merle boys, 2 tricolor boys and 1 blue merle girl.
